4 Things To Include on Your Event Security Checklist
Event security doesn’t just happen by accident. It takes careful planning ahead of time: imagining every possible contingency and knowing exactly how you will react should that contingency occur.
A checklist of matters of security that you have to address before the event can help you make sure that you do not overlook anything in the lead-up to the event.
1. Have an Emergency Response Plan
In the event of an emergency situation, such as a fire or a rampaging vehicle, you need to have a plan in place so that everyone knows how to respond. This includes liaising with emergency services as well as debriefing your staff. Have a chain of command in place to facilitate communication in an efficient and effective manner.
2. Control Traffic Flow
A significant part of event security involves controlling the flow of traffic in and out of the venue. This includes directing cars in the direction they are supposed to go and preventing them from traveling in the wrong direction, either on purpose or by accident.
Clear, effective communication is an important aspect of traffic control. Parking lot warning signs that indicate that drivers are traveling in the wrong direction can go a long way toward avoiding accidents. 3. Delineate and Protect Pedestrian Areas
There will probably be areas at your event venue that are only for pedestrians. You need to make sure that these are clearly marked so that pedestrians know where to go and drivers of vehicles know to stay away.
