The new patent-pending TB150 crash rated high security portable bollards and special event barrier system allows law enforcement and other security providers to promptly block access to temporary venues where vehicles can be used as weapons against large numbers of pedestrians. Individual security portable bollards provide vehicle barricades in applications such as heavily traveled narrow walkways and roadways or any area that a vehicle can get through. They can also be used as substitutes until permanent bollard systems get installed. The omni-directional design absorbs impact from any angle and its quick deployment enables protection that slows, trips and arrests intruding vehicles without difficulty of a major barricade installation.

TB150 High Security Portable Bollard In Use

Up to ten TB150 portable crash rated bollards can be linked together with a cable system and be placed on a road’s surface to create immediate protection for a span of 40 feet (12.2 m). This formation creates a portable and temporary crash rated fence protecting events or other situations in need of vehicle flow protection. They portable special event barrier system requires no other installation procedures, no excavations and no sub-surface preparations. Certified testing demonstrates that a TB150 portable bollard will stop and disable a 15,000 pound (6,804 kg) vehicle traveling at 50 mph (80.4 kph), resulting in an ASTM M50, P3 rating. A single TB150 bollard absorbs 1.2 million foot pounds of kinetic energy.

Delta Scientific Senior Vice President, David Dickinson, emphasizes “This is a remarkable result for a light-weight portable bollard system that requires no excavation or attachment to the roadway. It can be placed on any stable surface such as concrete, asphalt, compacted soil or vegetation to quickly protect people and property against aggravated automobile or truck assault.”

According to Dickinson, the TB150 temporary bollards can be used to close off streets, entrances or wide expanses such as access to pedestrian areas or even airport runways. They can be installed in conjunction with Delta’s popular MP5000 portable barricade to fill in any gaps to protect people and critical infrastructures at public events such as parades, festivals, sporting weekends and any place that vehicles could attack transitory events. The combination of the portable barriers with the new portable bollards provides fast controlled vehicle access without the time and labor of installation.

Portable Bollards Make Financial Sense

“From a purchasing standpoint, it can be easier to buy portable bollards and barricades than permanent solutions,” adds Dickinson. “The latter are oftentimes placed into an organization’s real assets budget because they are permanently installed into the ground, becoming part of the property. Such budgets can often create complex purchasing scenarios for law enforcement or public safety departments. However, purchasing portable bollards and barricades is no different than buying protective vests for personnel or new sets of wrenches for the maintenance department.”

Other Bollards

Bollard DSC720

Bollard DSC720

The DSC720 is Delta’s highest crash rated bollard tested with a 15,000 lb vehicle at 50 mph and achieving K-12 bollards crash rating. This high security bollard will stop and destroy much larger vehicles than those tested at very high velocities. Applications include Federal and DOD facilities, embassies and high profile, high-risk clients.
Bollard DSC720-1M

Bollard DSC720-1M

Delta Scientific’s new DSC720-1M security bollards, created to stop taller trucks such as those found in Europe and the Middle East from tumbling over anti-terrorist crash-proof bollards, stopped a 15,000 pound (66.7 Km) flatbed truck impacting at 50 miles per hour (80 kph) with only a 0.5 meter penetration of the vehicle, creating an M50, P1 ASTM rating.
Shallow Foundation Bollard DSC600

Shallow Foundation Bollard DSC600

Delta Scientific’s DSC600 Shallow Foundation Bollards protect approaches to buildings, drop-off and passenger loading areas at transportation hubs, storefronts, sports arenas, office buildings and other presently unprotected locations where vehicle bombers and errant drivers have no obstacles.
