Delta Scientific Taps Manor To Head Engineering Services Division

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

VALENCIA, CALIF. – May 20, 2004 – Delta Scientific, the leading manufacturer of counter-terrorist vehicle control systems used in the United States and internationally, today announced that it has promoted Judy Manor to Manager of Engineering Services, where she will oversee the creation of drawings for production. The Engineering Services Division ensures products that are designed ultimately get built to the stringent certification standards required by embassies, armed forces bases and leading facilities around the world.

Manor joined Delta in 2001 as a designer. A resident of the Santa Clarita Valley since 1980, Manor attended Hart High School and the ITT Technical Institute in design and drafting.

Her most challenging assignment at Delta so far has been assisting Delta Scientific’s president, Harry Dickinson, in the design of the DSC800 bollard system, which rises to stop unauthorized vehicles dead in their tracks and lowers to allow the passage of those that are authorized. The DSC800 can stop a vehicle weighing 15,000 pounds traveling at 30 mph and still be functional after the crash. This bollard system is designed to look architecturally pleasing in its surroundings, while still providing a high level of protection against errant vehicles. It is used to protect buildings and pedestrians, such as the National Archives Building in Washington, D.C.

“The DSC800 bollard was the first design job I did at Delta. When it was crash-tested and worked, I was so excited,” Manor said. “It’s nice to know that our designs translate into equipment that truly protects both people and property, which is especially important considering the times we live in.”
