Delta’s New Counter-Terrorist Portable Planters Stop 15,000 Pound Vehicles

Stainless Steel Planters Placed at Location – Filled with Concrete – No Excavation or Foundation Required

VALENCIA, CALIF. – August 19, 2002 – Delta Scientific’s new stainless steel Portable Planter Barricades can be quickly employed to protect facilities and people from both errant and terrorist vehicle attacks. The attractive Portable Planter Barricades are designed to stop a 15,000 pound (66.7 kN) vehicle traveling at 30 mph (48 kph).

“The new Portable Planter Barricades provide facilities and security managers with yet another simple, effective way to protect their organizations from vehicles, which by accident or plan, can threaten lives,” reports David Dickinson, Delta Scientific senior vice president. “The Planters are shipped empty, placed into position and filled with concrete at their desired location. They are not attached to the roadway and can be moved or re arranged to meet changing access requirements. They can be used to close off an unused access point or strung together to provide barriers as long as needed.”

The stainless steel Planter Barricades are architecturally pleasing, durable and easy to maintain. They are also a complement to the stainless steel decorative bollards that Delta Scientific provides to facilities such as the U.S. Department of State headquarters.

“In today’s heightened security climate, organizations want to block vehicle access to their facilities from all sides as quickly as possible,” Dickinson adds. “With our Portable Planters, they can position the barrier, fill it with concrete, add flowers or other vegetation and have defense against errant vehicles within a single morning.”
