Delta Receives Patent on “Run Flat” Motorized Traffic Controller MTC6000 Pedestrian Safe/Vehicle Security

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

VALENCIA, CALIF.—(May 16, 2000)— Inventor Harry Dickinson, President of Delta Scientific Corporation, has been issued Patent Number 6,045,293 for the company’s MTC6000 motorized traffic controller which severely damages or deflates even the new generation of steel-belted tires, extolled to “run flat.” The traffic controller, introduced in late 1998, is especially popular with car rental agencies, public buildings, airports and high vandalism locations where car theft or fee evasion is of concern.

“Although the teeth are sharp enough to cut paper, the patented plastic, specially-molded caps make the unit pedestrian friendly,” explains Delta Senior Vice President David Dickinson. “They are designed to withstand the impact of a pedestrian’s foot or fall. As a result, the MTC6000 has become a customer favorite.”

The teeth are made from high tensile steel with points encased in specially formulated, non-removable molded caps that break away only under the impact and weight of a vehicle. They rotate into position in less than 1.5 seconds. If a person falls on them, though, the caps will not break to expose the extra sharp cutting teeth.

The Delta MTC6000 is available in three-foot (914-mm) modules and can be configured for either surface mount, in which they additionally provide a speed bump, or flush mount operation. The modules can be linked together to secure various width roadways.
