Every year, the International Security Conference and Exposition puts on a trade event called ISC West in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2023, ISC West took place from March 28th to March 31st. We at Delta Scientific were pleased to attend the conference and meet with current and future customers. If you were unable to attend the conference, we have compiled a few of the most important takeaways.
Crash Ratings and Certifications
At Delta Scientific, we know that you need to rely on our products to perform correctly and predictably in emergency situations. When a vehicle is barreling toward your facility, the difference between a catastrophe and a crisis averted can be a matter of seconds. For this reason, we put our products through multiple crash test scenarios to determine a crash rating, i.e., how effective each barrier is under a particular set of circumstances. We then submit to various certifying agencies to confirm and validate the results.
Rebounding Air Traffic Means Greater Need for Airport Security
Air travel declined during the COVID-19 pandemic, partly because of government restrictions and partly because of people’s fears about contracting the virus while on a plane. As the number of infections and hospitalizations goes down, those roadblocks are slowly being removed, and more people are flying. We at Delta Scientific know that more air traffic means a greater need for security to keep travelers safe.
Product Spotlight: Beam Barricade DSC7000
A challenge that can arise when securing many critical facilities is that the approach is too wide for many traditional barricades to span completely. We at Delta Scientific have addressed this problem with our DSC7000 beam barricade, which is available in width options that can close off either a single lane or a double lane. Learn more about the features that the DSC7000 has to offer.
Connect With Delta Scientific at ISC West
ISC West is a trade event in the security industry that takes place every year in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 2023 event will take place at the Venetian Expo from March 28 to March 31. Delta Scientific will have a booth there, and we hope to see you there as well.
The Future of Security in Education
At Delta Scientific, we recognize how important it is for a society to educate its children. Yet around the country, in public and private schools, students and teachers alike have difficulty working because of constant fear of an attack against their schools. Every child should have an expectation of safety at school, and teachers should expect a safe working environment, especially considering the sacrifices they have to make for the education and edification of young minds.
Delta’s DSC550 Successfully Completes 1,000,000 Cycle Test
At Delta Scientific, we know how important it is for our products to perform reliably in emergency situations. Reliability is one of our three main pillars, along with quality and customer service. For this reason, we perform rigorous testing of our products to make sure that they meet or exceed applicable standards.
Delta’s Portable Bollards Used at a Retail Store After Vehicle Crash
In November of 2022, an SUV crashed through the front windows of a retail store in Massachusetts, about 20 miles south of Boston. One person, a 65-year-old employee of the store, died and 19 others were injured. In the wake of the tragedy, Delta Scientific bollards were use in front of the storefront to prevent any further vehicles ramming incidents at the site.
4 Physical Security Predictions for 2023
The security threats that you and your facility face are constantly changing. This means that your approach to security has to keep evolving as well. We at Delta Scientific keep a constant eye on new threats to physical security in an effort to better serve our customers. Here are some trends that we are currently watching that may be relevant to the security of your facility in the new year.
Climate Change and National Security
The negative effects of climate change are real and observable in the world. While it may be difficult for a layperson to perceive a link between climate change and national security, the United States Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security, as well as 18 different intelligence agencies, recognize climate change as a current, concrete security threat. Because security is Delta Scientific’s primary concern, we attempt to explain the connection between these two seemingly disparate phenomena.
