Delta Scientific Extends GSA Contract for Counter-Terrorist Barriers Another 5 Years
Production Tripled with Major Increases in Federal Installations

VALENCIA, CALIF. – April 24, 2003 – Delta Scientific, the largest provider of barriers, barricades, bollards and parking equipment to the United States government, today announced that its GSA contract has been extended for five more years. Over the past year, Delta equipment has been providing increased force protection for U.S. Navy, U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force bases around the globe. The company has also reviewed perimeter security for all U.S. embassies and upgraded those needing to address new threat levels.
Delta provides barriers that will stop and destroy a truck weighing 15 tons (13,608 Kg) traveling 50 mph (80.5 kph). The barricades can be raised or lowered at will to stop traffic or let it through. In an emergency, the thick steel plates or bollards pop out of the ground within a second. The company has supplied its counter-terrorist barricade systems to over 160 U.S. embassies and consulates in 130-plus countries. In the United States alone, Delta has secured over 110 federal buildings.
“We continue our programs to provide increased counter-terrorist vehicle attacks at major federal buildings,” reports, David Dickinson, Delta Scientific senior vice president. “We’ve recently added protection to multiple federal courthouses, IRS headquarters, the National Archives, Social Services Administration headquarters, the Department of Commerce Hoover building and FBI locations throughout the nation.”
According to Dickinson, many federal government facilities rushed to implement Delta’s new portable barriers and barricades to immediately guard entrances from vehicle assault. Able to be deployed in high traffic locations within only a couple of hours, these quick deployment barriers can be rapidly set-up on existing concrete or asphalt roads, level compacted soils and other hard surfaces. No excavation or sub-surface preparation is required. At many federal facilities, the portable barriers are protecting employees and assets while permanent barriers are being installed.
