Delta Anti-Terrorist Shallow Foundation Barricade Exceeds State Department Requirements, In Crash Test.

Fully Operational after 1.2 Million Foot Pound Collision

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

VALENCIA, CALIF.—August 21, 2001—In a recent crash test , Delta Scientific’s new DSC720 bollards stopped a 15,000 pound (66.7 kN) truck moving at 50 mph (80 kph), receiving the U.S. State Department’s K12/L2 certification, which is widely employed by federal buildings, military bases and embassies. The DSC720 bollards meet requirements just one step below those reserved for the State Department’s highest level of anti-terrorist vehicle barricade and is the highest rating the government has ever given a bollard system, surpassing that of Delta’s own DSC701 system.

“It is very rewarding to have our bollards provide the level of crash protection normally associated with a barricade, which is a continuous barrier,” explains David Dickinson, Delta Scientific senior vice president. “To obtain this certification, each bollard in the series must stand up to enormous impact.”
The new 35-inch (89 cm) DSC720 high security bollard system can be customized with a variety of decorative castings to match any architectural design. Ornamental trim can be placed around the perimeter of the crash tube. Customers can also order the DSC720 with steel trim directly attached to the tube or in the form of an aluminum, iron or bronze cast sleeve.

As a result, the DSC720 bollards can be faceted, fluted, or tapered, feature rings or ripple effects, or be made to look like pillars. Using the cast sleeve, project architects are virtually unlimited in styles and aesthetics. Cast sleeves can also incorporate corporate logos or patterns of architectural style for a specific building.

As with other Delta barrier systems, the new DSC720 can be galvanized for corrosion resistance, fitted with an internal warning light for increased visibility and engineered to suit high volume traffic conditions.

The Delta DSC720 also uses proven Delta hydraulic power systems and controls to raise or lower the barricade to permit passage of authorized vehicles. As with all Delta barricade systems, the bollard system can be operated by means of Delta control panels, card readers, and key pads or radio controls.

The new DSC720 high security bollard system is available now.
