DELTA BEAM BARRICADE STOPS 15,000 POUND (6800 KG) AT 30 MPH (48 KM/HOUR)

VALENCIA, CALIF. – April 23, 1999 – Tested to United States State Department standards, Delta Scientific’s new Model TT212EC Vehicle Barricade stopped 450,000 foot pounds (610,000 Nm) of kinetic energy.
To be used primarily in counter terrorism and anti-theft applications, the TT212EC family of patented beam barricades is designed to close off roadways 12 to 20 feet (3.6 to 6.1 meters) in width, stopping large, fast-moving vehicles of up to 15,000 pounds (6,800 Kg) at 30 miles per hour (48 Km per hour) when attached. They can be raised and lowered either hydraulically or manually.
“This was our fifteenth full-scale crash test of a vehicle system,” affirms David Dickinson, senior vice president of Delta Scientific. “It is amazing that a beam barricade weighing only 458 pounds (208 Kg) can absorb so much energy.”
Besides embassies and other government facilities, Dickinson said that Delta has received many requests for such a barricade for locations such as restricted or reserved parking areas, impound yards, freight terminals, shipping and receiving docks, storage and warehouse entrances, arms depots and other places where standard traffic controls or gates are not capable of resisting such high crash forces or vandalism.
