Delta Scientific Expands Manufacturing Space Due to Counter-Terrorist Barrier Demand

New Building Allows 3-fold Increase in Output

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

VALENCIA, CALIF. – December 17, 2001 – Resulting from the dramatic increase in orders for its counter-terrorist high security vehicle barricade systems over the past two months, Delta Scientific begins manufacturing today in an additional building nearby corporate headquarters in Valencia, Calif. The new building was recently purchased and the company took occupancy only one week ago. It allows Delta to triple its manufacturing throughput. “Within hours of the September 11 attack, government and military officials were contacting us to rush deliveries of our barriers and bollards,” reports David Dickinson, Delta Scientific Senior Vice President. “In addition, we’ve been inundated with a surge of orders from governments and the private sector to produce even more barriers and bollards needed to protect their personnel from vehicle bomb and hazmat attacks.” Delta provides counter-terrorist systems that will stop and destroy a truck weighing 15,000 pounds (13,608 Kg) traveling 50 mph (80.5 kph).

The barricades and bollards can be raised or lowered either manually or by remotely controlled precision power systems at will to stop traffic or let it through. Under emergency conditions, they can be raised in as little as a single second. Delta Scientific has supplied its counter-terrorist barricade systems to over 160 U.S. embassies and consulates in 130-plus countries. In the United States alone, Delta has secured over 110 Federal buildings, including courthouses and FBI locations, since the Oklahoma City bombing (April 19, 1995). Over 85 percent of all U.S. nuclear power plants are protected by Delta vehicle barricade systems.
