Delta has developed a counter balanced electromechanical version of the highly successful DSC 2000 barricade system. Each module is individually counter balanced and can be raised manually with one hand.  With a coupled electromechanical drive one, two, three or four modules can be powered with a single self contained motor drive.

Those applications where electromechanical drives are desired.  The DSC 2000 has two speeds, normal and emergency fast.  The DSC 2000 also accommodates locations that have crowned or sloped roadways and driveways.  Please contact Delta for details.

UNITED KINGDOM CRASH TEST
The DSC 2000 has been tested to the United Kingdom BSI Standard PAS:68 2007 Crash Test. 7.5 Tonne EU truck at 80 kph. Two Meter penetration and partially functional after the  vehicle was removed. The two outer barricades were operational. Second attack readiness demonstrated.

K12 crash-certified by the U.S. Dept. of State (SD-SDT-02.01 Revision A dated March 2003) with no penetration, it stops a 15,000 pound (66.7 kN) vehicle traveling 50 mph (80 kph) dead in its tracks. When danger is imminent, the barricade rises in less than one-half second (0.5 seconds)!

The DSC2000 barricade is designed to go places.
Because each module weighs only 1100 pounds (500 kg) and is easy to install, the DSC2000 barricade is perfect for remote locations and developing country installations. It fits in a small shipping package or air cargo container for convenient air transport. Modules can even be carried in the back of a pick-up truck.

For ease of shipping, the complete barricade system, including the hydraulic power unit, control circuits and controls, all fit on two 4 ft. x 6 ft. pallets that can easily be handled by a lightweight yard fork lift or pallet jack.

The barricade modules can be manhandled into place and installed without the use of power equipment. This barricade can be set up, sited and cast in place without removing the top plate

Multiple modules can be deployed in configurations to guard wide roadways to narrow driveways. Designed for heavy use, the DSC2000 produces more than 100,000 cycles per month with axle loading greater than 22,000 pounds.

With its extremely shallow foundation and aesthetic design, the DSC2000 is a major breakthrough in high duty, anti-terrorist barricades. It obviates the concerns of interference with buried pipes, power lines and fiber optic communication lines. The DSC2000 is perfect for high water table locations and areas with corrosive soils. The ten-inch shallow foundation also reduces installation complexity, time, materials and corresponding costs.

Delta’s fastest, smallest and shallowest foundation barricade was created especially for high speed applications and ease of installation. It is K12 crash certified with no penetration, meaning it will stop a 15,000 pound (66.7 kN) vehicle traveling 50 mph (80 kph) dead in its tracks.

Representatives from the U.S. Department of State, Army Corps of Engineers and Bureau of Reclamation who witnessed the July 2005 crash tests for the DSC2000 were very impressed. And these guys are tough to impress.

Set in a foundation only ten inches (25 cm) deep versus the standard 18 inches on most shallow foundation barriers, the Delta DSC2000 survived and operated after a crash test with a 1.5 million foot pound impact, exceeding Department of State and Department of Defense test standards.

DSC501   top

Crash-tested to K54…Advanced counter-terrorism barrier system for sub-surface conditions that negate extensive excavations.

K54 testing exceeds government levels… The DSC501 not only stopped and destroyed a 65,000-pound  (5.4 million foot-pounds) dump truck but the barricade continued to stand, preventing a potential second attack.  The foundation was undamaged.

K12/L3 certification meets government’s highest levels…exceeds Department of State and Department of Defense requirements.

In the United Kingdom, the DSC 501 high security barricade has also been tested to stop a 7,500 kg (16,500 pound) vehicle traveling 80 kph (50 mph), meeting the BSI standard PAS:68 2007.

This barricade was designed for the U.S. Navy and has also been selected for use at U.S. Embassies.  Set in a foundation only 18 inches (46 cm) deep, the Delta DSC501 is able to survive and operate after a 1.2 million foot pound impact.  Upon extracting the truck after its crash test, the barricade was fully functional and performed a resounding 27,000 cycles with no wear!

With its shallow foundation and aesthetic design, it is a major breakthrough in high duty, anti-terrorist barricades.  It obviates the concerns of interference with buried pipes, power lines and fiber optic communication lines.  The shallow foundation also reduces installation complexity, time, materials and corresponding costs.  The DSC 501 is suitable for high water table locations and areas with corrosive soils. Front face warning lights warn drivers that the barricade is in the “up” position.  There is also an open area on the front for signage.  Diagonal yellow and white stripes are standard and optional colors and graphics are available.  The open channel construction even lets you specify hot dip galvanizing.

SECOND STRIKE CAPABILITY

The DSC501– K54 Barricade System has been tested in full scale configuration and has
demonstrated its ability to stop and destroy a fast moving heavily loaded truck (weigh 65,000pounds –collision speed 50 MPH). The Barricade System survived the K54 impact with all major elements intact – the Barricade System was repaired and operating in 3 hours.

In the lowered position, the DSC501’s barrier ramp is completely flush with the roadway.  Buttresses, counterweights and road plates do not obstruct authorized pedestrian or vehicular traffic.

The DSC501 is raised and lowered to and from the guard position via hydraulic cylinders driven by Delta’s patent-pending hydraulic power unit.  This unit can be configured to operate one or more DSC501's and provide pass-through rates of 3 to 15 seconds, suitable for most inspection and identification station requirements.  However, when danger is imminent, the barricade rises in less than 2 seconds!

A vehicle detector safety loop is available.

K54 Crash Test:

DSC501 Barricade System Handles K54 Crash—Certified!

In February 2001, prior to 9-11, we crash tested the highly innovative DSC501 vehicle barricade system, set in a foundation only 18-inches deep, that was certified K12 by the US Department of State. That means it will stop and destroy a 15,000-pound (6810 kg) vehicle traveling at 50 mph (80 kph).

Over the last 5 years, it has become the barricade standard used by many US government organizations - among others - to protect their facilities from truck bomb attack. Several thousand are in use.

As the war on terrorism has escalated, the sizes of the vehicles used in truck bomb attacks have increased and multiple vehicles are sometimes used.

The question was posed - how would the Delta DSC501 Barricade hold up to the new threats?

The answer - very nicely, thank you! The test energy was five times greater than the original certification. Better yet it is now certified at K54.

The DSC501 not only stopped and destroyed a 65,000-pound dump truck but the barricade continued to stand, preventing a potential second attack. When the attack truck was removed, the barricade was repaired in less than three hours using hand tools and $7 of parts from the local hardware store. It was cycled in the normal and emergency fast modes. The foundation was undamaged.

DSC501 MB   top
The DSC501-MB version of the highly effective DSC501 barricade features a pre-packaged and self contained hydraulic pumping unit and electrical control system mounted on the frame of the DSC501 barricade in an above grade module.

It is pre-plumbed and pre-wired for rapid installation. Installation consists of excavating a nominal eighteen-inch deep foundation, casting the barricade in place and supplying electrical power. All of the hydraulic lines, hydraulic cylinder and controls are mounted above grade as close as possible to the barricade.

This provides for very fast operation. It was developed for applications were rapid installation is desired, or for environments with heavy sand or snow conditions. For corrosive soil environments the DSC501- MB can be supplied with zinc coatings such as galvanization. It has all of the security capabilities of the DSC501 with the added benefits of the pre installed pumping unit.

SECOND STRIKE CAPABILITY
The DSC501– MB Barricade System has been tested in full scale configuration and has demonstrated its ability to stop and destroy a fast moving heavily loaded truck (weigh 65,000 pounds –collision speed 50 MPH). The Barricade System survived the K54 equivalent or (H50 ASTM F2656-7) impact with all major elements intact – the Barricade System was repaired and operating in 3 hours.

U.S. DEPT OF STATE CRASH TEST CERTIFICATION
The DSC501-K12 Barricade System has been tested and certified to the highest United States Department of State and International energy standards and has a K12 and a K12-L3 rating.

UNITED KINGDOM CRASH TEST
The DSC501 has been tested to the United Kingdom BSI Standard PAS:68 2007 Crash Test. 7.5 Tonne EU truck at 80 kph. Zero penetration and fully functional after the vehicle was removed. Second attack readiness demonstrated. Passed Test.

FUNCTIONALITY - POST K 12 CERTIFICATION CRASH TEST
Following the K12 Certification Test the DSC501–K50 was operated 27,000 full cycles and then inspected by the independent test laboratory. Functionality of the Barrier was found to be 100% with no measurable wear.
