Delta Scientific Celebrates Opening of New $8 Million Manufacturing Facility in Palmdale

World’s Leading Supplier of Anti-Terrorist Vehicle Control Systems Significantly Expands Manufacturing Capabilities

Celebrates 30-Year Anniversary with $25 million U.S. Air Force Order

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

VALENCIA, CALIF. – June 30, 2004 – Delta Scientific, the leading manufacturer of counter-terrorist vehicle control systems used in the United States and internationally, announced the grand opening of its new $8 million, 125,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Palmdale, Calif. Official opening ceremonies were held yesterday, Tuesday, June 29, Delta’s 30-year anniversary, and included proclamations and speeches by local, state and federal elected officials or their representatives.

“We believe Delta Scientific is the type of company that portrays the essence of California industry by bringing technologically advanced solutions to global customers,” said David Dickinson, Senior Vice President, Delta Scientific. “After 30 years, we continue to have faith in the skills of the California workforce, as our substantial investment in this recent expansion illustrates.”

After presenting Delta Scientific management with a flag that had flown over the U.S. Capital building, 25th District of California U.S. Rep. Howard P. “Buck” McKeon (R-Santa Clarita) affirmed, “I really appreciate what you are doing to help our troops and people around the world who are working for freedom.”

Among the systems on display was a new Delta MP5000 high security mobile vehicle barricade system, one of many, that will be in Baghdad and other Iraqi cities next week. This system can be towed into place and made operable in 15 minutes.

Since 1974, Delta Scientific has grown to become the world’s leading manufacturer of anti-terrorist and vehicle access control equipment. Delta barriers will stop and destroy a truck weighing 15,000 pounds traveling 50 mph. The barricades can be raised or lowered at will to stop traffic or let it through. In an emergency, the thick steel plates or bollards pop out of the ground within a second.

Delta Scientific systems protect the U.S. Capital and other Washington landmark buildings, high-rises throughout the world, Broadway pedestrians in New York City, corporate facilities, the Singapore parliament, Hoover Dam and other power and water infrastructure locales, European castles and the private homes of celebrities and influential people in Beverly Hills and other upscale communities. Earlier this month, Delta Scientific announced a $25 million order with the U.S. Air Force.

The company has also supplied its counter-terrorist barricade systems to over 160 U.S. embassies and consulates in 130-plus countries as well as those of other nations. In the United States alone, Delta has secured over 110 Federal buildings, including courthouses and FBI locations. Over 85 percent of all U.S. nuclear power plants are protected by Delta vehicle barricade systems.

According to Dickinson, this new facility is testimony to the increasing need for protecting the world’s infrastructures against the threat of vehicle bombings as well as the role of California’s skilled workforce in creating the solutions to do so. Since the assault of 9-11, Delta Scientific’s production has more than doubled in its present Valencia buildings.

The new manufacturing facility, in addition to the present Valencia sites, will help Delta Scientific meet the increased requirements and demands of its continually growing international customer base.
