Delta Scientific Adds Two Buildings; Plans Expansion

Anti-Terrorist Vehicle Control System Demand Stretches Production Facilities

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

VALENCIA, CALIF. – June 24, 2003 – Delta Scientific, which manufactures the leading line of counter-terrorist vehicle barrier systems used in the United States and internationally, today announced that it is temporarily adding one new facility in Valencia and will expand to a new to-be-built, state-of-the-art production facility in Palmdale, approximately 30 miles away. Phase One of the new Palmdale facility will provide approximately 125,000 square feet of space, supply room for future growth and consolidate operations now taking place in four separate buildings.

“These last two months have been our highest shipping months ever,” informs David Dickinson, Delta Scientific senior vice president. “To meet the demand of protecting the nation’s infrastructure since the assault of 9-11, our production has more than doubled in the Valencia buildings. We’ve been involved in upgrading perimeter security at both United States and other nation’s embassies, military bases, government facilities, corporate headquarters, law enforcement buildings, utilities facilities, schools and universities and hundreds of other installations in both the United States and internationally.

“Valencia is one of the best places in Southern California to conduct business,” Dickinson adds. “Unfortunately, there was no place for us to build the type of structure we need to create the production efficiencies and flexibilities of having all of our anti-terrorist, parking equipment and guard booth systems built under one roof. We will continue to work in Valencia as we look forward to our future in the Antelope Valley.”

Delta provides barriers that will stop and destroy a truck weighing 15 tons (13,608 Kg) traveling 50 mph (80.5 kph). The barricades can be raised or lowered at will to stop traffic or let it through. In an emergency, the thick steel plates or bollards pop out of the ground within a second.

Delta Scientific has supplied its counter-terrorist barricade systems to over 160 U.S. embassies and consulates in 130-plus countries. In the United States alone, Delta has secured over 110 Federal buildings, including courthouses and FBI locations. Over 85 percent of all U.S. nuclear power plants are protected by Delta vehicle barricade systems.
