DELTA RECEIVES $8 MILLION CONTRACT TO UPGRADE FORCE PROTECTION AT U.S. EMBASSIES

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

VALENCIA, CALIF. – August 5, 1999 – Meeting the security needs of the U.S. State Department, Delta Scientific is producing and delivering barrier systems for United States embassies around the world under the terms of a recently awarded $8 million contract.

“In a world of increasing threats by very small, but savvy terrorist groups, force protection is the key concern at every embassy,” emphasizes David Dickinson, senior vice president of Delta Scientific. “We are very honored and gravely accept the responsibility of helping to protect State Department employees throughout the world, especially from car and truck bombings and related attacks.”

All Delta barriers used at the U.S. embassies are certified by the State Department, which sends a representative to personally witness full-scale crash tests at independent laboratories. Based on these tests plus an analysis using a mathematical model of a truck collision, Delta provides barriers that will stop and destroy a truck weighing 15 tons (13,608 Kg) traveling 50 mph (80.5 kph).

Delta Scientific is not at liberty to discuss which embassies or mix of barriers are involved in this massive program.
